Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, affirmed that the economic sanctions imposed on Syria prevent the provision of the necessary medical equipment to combat the Corona virus, which will not take place effectively without the return of all Syrian lands to Syrian sovereignty.
The Russia Today website quoted Nebinzia as saying during a video meeting of the UN Security Council that the sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union, Canada and Turkey against Syria are hurting its economy and its citizens and preventing the supply of medicines and medical equipment to it, making it more difficult to fight the epidemic.
Nebinzia explained that unless the entire Syrian lands are returned to Syrian sovereignty, the battle against the Corona virus in the country will not be effective, calling on Western countries to help all Syrians instead of exploiting the current situation.
Nebenzia stressed that the countries that occupy Syrian lands and the terrorist organizations present on the ground bear full responsibility for combating the Corona virus in those areas.
