There was a scandal in the quarantine accommodation for asylum seekers in Puchheim on Monday evening. Refugees threw food around them.

  • An uproar occurred in a quarantine accommodation for asylum seekers in Puchheim.
  • There was a dispute with the residents when serving food.
  • Due to the quarantine, the asylum seekers no longer get money to shop, but the food is delivered. The situation should escalate.
  • Here are the basic facts about the corona virus. You can also see current case numbers in Germany as a map and the Corona News from Germany. The most important thing about the topic is also on our brand new Facebook page Corona News.

Puchheim - Around 20 residents live there. Because they could infect others with the corona virus, they must not leave the building. The refugees no longer get money to shop, but food delivered to their front door.

Obviously, there is no understanding of this in a group: it has prevented the delivery of food. The police had to intervene. The groceries were placed on the property to de-escalate. When police officers and employees of the district office moved away, all the apples, bread and milk delivered flew over the fence.

Corona quarantine: After a scandal in the asylum seekers' accommodation - clear words from the district administrator

The district office is responsible for accommodation. District Administrator Thomas Karmasin: "The behavior of the interferers is completely unacceptable and will be followed up consistently." The quarantine was ordered by the health department. Violations are not a trivial offense.

The employees in the district office would work under high pressure to get test results as soon as possible in suspected cases. The determination of contact persons is also intended to ensure that only those for whom it is essential come into quarantine.

Corona quarantine for asylum seekers: dispute over food distribution

Efforts are being made to organize accommodation and catering at short notice. "I actually expect this form of hospitality to be valued accordingly," says Karmasin. In the neighboring community of Groebenzell, a comparable delivery was accepted without any problems. Quarantine accommodation has also been set up for immigrants infected with Covid-19.

Puchheim's Mayor Norbert Seidl agrees on the handling of food - and the respect for those who bring it. "I am horrified, that is not possible. It doesn't matter whether you're frustrated or sick or whatever. ”However, he also criticizes it sharply.

Corona virus: Criticism of the organization in the quarantine home

The residents were relocated from the completely overcrowded accommodation on Siemensstrasse and from elsewhere to Puchhheim-Ort. "Without adequate communication," explains Seidl. “The sun is shining every day and you just can't go out anymore. How is that supposed to be understood? ”Usually the asylum helpers step in at this point as mediators - but they are no longer allowed to go to the residents because of the risk of infection.

And that is the crux of the matter. The district office has been creating the general conditions since 2015. In other words, the asylum seekers are given accommodation. But the care will be left to the municipality. And if the asylum workers as bridge builders and interpreters cease to exist, the system collapses. "The district office has to retrofit it with man power." Seidl also wants to add more: with an open letter.
