The corona virus is spreading massively in the United States. President Donald Trump is still optimistic. There is a stir in New York for a large funeral service, after which the mayor receives criticism.

Update of April 30, 3:33 p.m .: After harsh criticism of an Orthodox-Jewish funeral service attended by many people in the middle of the  Corona crisis , New York Mayor Bill de Blasio apologized. "If I said something in my passion and emotion that was hurting in any way, I'm sorry," said de Blasio at a press conference. "That was not my intention. But I also want to  be clear : I have no regrets about calling this a danger and saying that we will deal with it very aggressively. ”

De Blasio previously criticized the big funeral service as "absolutely unacceptable" (see below). Several representatives of Jewish associations then attacked the mayor himself to emphasize the incident and generalize “the Jewish community” as responsible for it.

April 30 update, 9:45 am:  The city of New York is one of the trouble spots in the United States , with more than 14,000 coronavirus-related deaths . After New York Mayor Bill de Blasio had to have a funeral closed on Wednesday (update April 29), the second scandal follows within a very short time. According to media reports, dozens of bodies have been found in several vans near a funeral home in the Brooklyn neighborhood .

The funeral home had rented the vehicles because the company had already exhausted its capacity due to the many deaths . In addition, the undertaker's cold room had failed, as the New York Times s quoted on Wednesday as the police . The corpse collection was noticed because residents noticed and reported a smell of decomposition from the trucks.

Dozens of bodies were found in several vans in Brooklyn.

There are several numbers regarding the exact number of bodies. TV station CNN speaks of up to 60 lifeless bodies , ABC reported 100 deaths . Lying on ice, the body bags were stacked in the transporters and should probably be cremated. However , it is not clear whether the deceased died of the coronavirus * . In view of the current situation , the funeral firm was also allowed to store the bodies in refrigerated trucks, but at least one vehicle had not been refrigerated . The bodies were later moved to a refrigerated truck, according to the New York Times .

Update of April 29, 9:20 pm: New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has criticized an orthodox Jewish funeral attended by many people in the middle of the Corona crisis as "absolutely unacceptable" . After hearing about it, he drove himself to the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn on Wednesday night to make sure that the mass accumulation would be dissolved, wrote de Blasio on Twitter. 

"What I saw will not be tolerated as long as we fight the corona virus." The time for the warnings is over, people in large groups are now being warned or arrested.

Corona virus in the USA: New York looks to Germany with "worry" - "... if you open too quickly"

Update from April 29, 7.44 p.m .: The US state of New  York , which was particularly badly affected by the  coronavirus pandemic, is  also looking to Germany when its exit restrictions are relaxed in the future  . "There is a situation in Germany that we should watch and learn from," said Governor Andrew Cuomo at his daily press conference on Wednesday.

Cuomo referred to the so-called reproduction number, which had risen slightly in Germany after loosening. "This worries us, it shows you that the infection rate can increase if you open it too quickly," said Cuomo. "You have to be careful." The number of reproductions indicates how many people are infected by an infected person on average. After the slight increase in Germany, however, it had recently fallen slightly again.

Update of April 29, 2:42 p.m .:  US President Donald Trump has responded to the dramatic numbers of coronavirus infections in the United States. On Tuesday evening, the number of cases had exceeded one million - and thus represents a third of the worldwide cases. Don't panic, the US President's motto seems. Rather, the corona tests in the US are "sooo much better than in any other country in the world," Trump writes on Twitter. Other countries lagged behind the US in testing and therefore recorded fewer cases. 

The only reason the US has reported one million cases of Corona Virus is that our testing is sooo much better than any other country in the World. Other countries are way behind us in Testing, and therefore show far fewer cases!

There are also dramatic figures at the economic policy level. Due to the corona crisis, the US economy  slumped by almost five percent in the first quarter. Economic output declined by 4.8 percent over the previous quarter, the Ministry of Commerce announced on Wednesday.

Corona crisis in the US: More than a million cases - a third of infections worldwide 

April 28 update, 8:40 pm:  According to scientists, more than a million infections with the novel virus have been identified in the United States since the beginning of the corona pandemic . That came out on Tuesday afternoon (local time) from data from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. According to this, more than 57,000 people have already died after being infected with the corona virus .

Update of April 28, 4:08 pm: The United States is the country with the most corona deaths worldwide. And this number may be even higher than previously thought. A new study by the American elite Yale University , according to which the number of deaths in the United States since March of this year has risen sharply . However, many of these deaths have not yet been linked to the corona virus .

Corona in the US: Study suggests that there are more Covid 19 deaths than previously thought

The study by the New Haven scientists was based on data from the US Department of Health. According to the Washington Post , about 15,400 more people died from the beginning of March to April 4 than in previous years . However, only 8128 coronavirus deaths were reported during this period . 

So far , however, is not known , whether the additional deaths really related to the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 are said Dan Weinberger, an epidemiologist at Yale University who is involved in the study. According to him, however, the data suggested that the death toll was “significantly higher than previously reported”. It is important to get a more complete picture of the true impact of the pandemic in order to give politicians a solid basis for decision-making, he stressed.

Sacramento - keep your distance , exit restrictions and in some places a mask is required * - because of the Corona * crisis, people around the world are currently taking strict measures to curb the spread of the novel virus * as much as possible. But especially in the United States , the country that has had the highest corona death rate to date , many people seem to be relatively unimportant about the restrictions.

There is hardly any other way to explain the scenes that took place at Huntington Beach in California last weekend . Many people spent the summer days there crowded on the beach - there was no sign of masks and compliance with distance rules, as can be seen   in a video by Bild.de.

For many, this behavior is absolutely incomprehensible. According to recent data from the Johns Hopkins University have so far in the US infected 988,469 people with the coronavirus , 56,253 people are after a Corona infection * died . 

Corona virus in the USA: Many people on Coney Island do not follow the distance rule

Still, countless people seem to be whistling about the corona rules. And not just in California, but also in other parts of the United States. Because pictures similar to Huntington Beach were also to be seen on Coney Island in the particularly hard hit by the pandemic US state of New York. 

Some beaches in the USA have now officially reopened , but no one wanted to provoke a mass rush with tens of thousands of bathers at Huntington Beach. And that's not all: Many Americans apparently not only find it difficult to adhere to the applicable corona restrictions - some of them also demonstrate against it . And in the meantime, US President Donald Trump has even fueled these protests. 

It remains to be seen whether the Covid 19 infection numbers will skyrocket after the summer weekend.
