Five months after the start of the outbreak of the new coronavirus, and two after the World Health Organization decreed the pandemic, some countries begin to implement their plans to get out of isolation. One of them is Paraguay, where the "smart quarantine" will start on Monday. For this reason, Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Benítez appealed to the public so that the relaxation of sanitary measures by COVID-19 "is not a carnival . "

Paraguay will start on Monday May 4 the first phase of the "smart quarantine", which will allow factories, workshops, deliverymen, collection services to return to business , as well as hairdressers, masseurs, lawyers or accountants ,They must go to the customer's address.

Although the Government has yet to publish the decree that will establish how the operation will be from May 4, since until now it has only presented a schedule with the four phases of the intelligent quarantine, Abdo Benítez alerted the Paraguayans and asked them don't think of this first phase "as a relaxation" to avoid missteps.

" That Monday is not a carnival , that we understand that we have to go step by step and that the lack of responsibility of the people does not force us to have to take drastic measures of return in a few weeks. That can cause worse damage "the president warned.

In addition, he recalled that its compliance is "80% of citizen awareness" rather than "coercive force on the part of the State". He did so within the framework of the inauguration of a health center in the department of Concepción, in the north of the country, with nine deaths.

For his part, the Minister of Health, Julio Mazzoleni, asked the citizens "for a little patience" before the reactivation of economic activity "gradually". Like the president, he called for solidarity so that Paraguayans comply with the government's sanitary measures and thus allow progress in the four phases of quarantine

Mazzoleni once again insisted that if there is non-compliance by the citizenry, the Executive will not hesitate "to lift the handbrake and back off."

Paraguay established a partial quarantine on March 10, a few days after the confirmation of the first case of coronavirus in the country, and tightened the measures on March 20, with the imposition of total quarantine .

Since that first positive, on March 7, to date, 249 cases have been registered, of which nine have died and 111 have recovered, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health.
