(CNN) - Jada Pinkett Smith has been married to Will Smith for 23 years, but after being quarantined with him, she has realized she doesn't know him at all.
She revealed what life is like at home during the coronavirus pandemic on her “Red Table Talk” program, and told her daughter, Willow, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, that the life she led was so busy that she would not she knew the real man underneath his great personality.
"I must be honest. I think one of the things that I've come to realize is that I don't know Will at all, ”Pinkett Smith told his guest, Pastor John Gray. “I feel like there is a layer you get to, life fills up and you create these stories in your head, and then you hold onto these stories and that's your idea of your partner; that is not who your partner is. "
Although the two share two children and have been married for decades, Pinkett Smith said the two "are going through the process of having to dissolve all those stories and all of Will's ideas," to really know who he is.
"This is intimacy," said Pinkett Smith. "Just being able to get to know who our loved ones are beyond what we have perceived."
She said they are first learning to love themselves, and then love each other as friends.
"Will and I are in the process of him taking time to learn to love himself, that I take time to learn to love myself and that together we can build a friendship along the way," said. "Let me tell you, that has been a big thing, being married to someone for about 20 years and realizing that I don't know you and that you don't know me and also that there is an aspect of yourself that you don't know either."
