Schlehdorf / Kochel am See - Old people from Großweil and Schlehdorf, but also from Kochel, should be given special consideration when allocating space in the new retirement home in Schlehdorf: This requirement was essential in the project, like Stefan Jocher, the chairman of the association for senior citizens in Schlehdorf at the association meeting said on Monday night. This is actually the case, Jocher assured. And not just in the house in Schlehdorf, but also in the retirement home in neighboring Kochel. Both houses are funded by “Help in Old Age” of the Inner Mission Munich. As Jocher learned from facility manager Jörg Kahl, there are currently 21 residents in the Kochler Heim - which could currently accommodate 63 people during the ongoing renovation work - who come from one of the three locations. Another ten residents there had relatives in one of the three Loisach communities. 47 senior citizens currently live in Schlehdorf. Eight of them came from Schlehdorf or Großweil.

As an employee of “Aid to the Elderly” explains, the number of local residents is so low because the “Aid to the Elderly” relocated their facility in Grafenaschau to the Kochelsee and many residents had moved from there.

There would be room for 52 seniors in Schlehdorf, but according to Jocher there is currently an admission stop in the homes because of the corona pandemic. Negotiations are currently underway between the executing agency and the district office, whether new residents could move in if they were able to produce a negative corona test result. However, the mayor has not yet given a result of these negotiations.

The number of locals is also high among employees: 28 people from Großweil, Kochel or Schlehdorf worked in both houses. Jocher reported that both facilities are "completely free" of corona infections.

As far as the archaeological excavations in the run-up to the new Schlehdorf building are concerned, he still has no final report. Without it, no application for a grant can be made to the State Office for Monument Conservation, said Jocher. As reported, the executing archaeologists have already assured that the excavations concern the Schlehdorfer monastery from the 8th century AD. As Jocher said, the special-purpose association would have to decide whether to set up a showcase with some finds - such as coins - in the retirement home or to make the finds available to the Free State.

The managing director of the special-purpose association Martin Gratz put the total costs for the project at 8.7 million euros. For 40 years, the association wants to repay the loan of 8.1 million euros from the rental income. The exact rent is still to be determined, says Jocher. Jocher expects 400 euros per inhabitant to be paid by the carrier. It is currently 360 euros. He does not know whether “help in old age” will spread the difference to the residents.
