In his excellent comment, Mr. Anastasiadis aptly describes the hopelessness of the Germans. The Chancellor's strategy described in the comment as "Merkel's precautionary method" is too reminiscent of the strategies for coping with all other current crises: whether the euro, refugee or climate crisis is always held up and the population is not made aware of the real scope of the situation. False hopes are awakened, a guilty conscience is made and appropriate concessions are required. Söder's hard work is called for because the Chancellor's “We can do it” will no longer be relieved.
