With a heavy heart, Königsdorf had to cancel its planned festival week due to the corona pandemic. Nevertheless, the clubs get away with a black eye.

With a heavy heart, Königsdorf had to cancel its planned festival week due to the corona pandemic. Nevertheless, the clubs get away with a black eye.

Königsdorf - During a press conference in late winter, we reported, the organizers of the opulent Königsdorfer Festwoche planned for early May had emphasized how tightly financial was sewn on edge.

Franz Mayer noted that contracts of around 100,000 euros had been signed, so everything had to go smoothly and nothing could go wrong. Otherwise, you are "broke", the chairman of the mountain costume conservation association Alpenrose tossed into the room. At the time, however, Mayer was more concerned with bad weather and bad weather for visitors than with a pandemic.

Traditional costumes and mountain archers wanted to host the Loisachgau Festival and Patronage Day

Königsdorf's Trachtler and the local Gebirgsschützenkompanie (GSK) wanted to organize the Loisachgau Festival of Trachtler and the Patronage Day of Schützen on the occasion of their two club anniversaries. After the exit restrictions were announced, the fixed committee delayed a decision for a long time.

Fixed committee must surrender to coronavirus

On the Wednesday before Easter - after weeks of fear and hope - he had to surrender to the corona virus: cancellation, two and a half years of preparation for free. And monetary? Threatened Trachtenlers and protect the collapse.

Monika Irger, member of the fixed committee

She cannot yet give exact figures, says Monika Irger from the fixed committee, and neither would she until all of her committee colleagues know about it. However, it looks like "we can get away with a black eye". This is thanks to the "tremendous solidarity" that the two clubs experience after the cancellation.

The companies involved would have shown great understanding: be it the Aying brewery, the security service or the sound engineer. The latter was “with the largest amount, around 23,000 euros,” says Georg Mayer, head of Königsdorf's GSK, “but he simply let us out of the contract.”

Companies involved show great understanding

The tent operator met the organizers in time when they still hoped to be able to hold the festival and therefore delayed the cancellation. The electricians made sure that the power connection was canceled. "And of course you shouldn't forget all the little ones, from the toilet woman to the cake maker to all the music bands," says Irger.

"We couldn't help it, it was force majeure"

Nobody made trouble, nobody insisted on his right. "A lot of hands were working in the background so that the two clubs could continue to exist after the cancellation." And Georg Mayer added: "We couldn't help it, it was force majeure" - everyone understood that.

The head of the Königsdorf GSK is also happy about the “remarkable” cohesion among the shooters. The clubs had eagerly bought festival signs, "and we received a donation of 2000 euros from the Isargau". It is similarly solidarity among the traditional costumes, adds Irger. "We get a lot of support from the associations and clubs."

Königsdorf: Help doesn't stop there

And the help didn't stop there: Mayor Anton Demmel and town hall manager Andreas Baumann as well as the district office kept an eye on the fact that the festival committee complied with all legal requirements in the course of the cancellation. Nobody got hung up in the village either, even when the celebrations became less and less likely. "Everyone involved saw that they were doing their job while there was still a chance," says Irger.

And what is your mood after two and a half years of unsuccessful work? Monika Irger hopes "for 14 days of rain, then the stab in the heart is not quite as deep". However, the work in the committee was not "for the cat" for her: "It was a great time and I met people with whom I had not had so much to do before."

Königsdorf: Giant binge will not rise until 2023 at the earliest

Franz Mayer, Chairman of the Alpenrose

It is not possible until 2023, at the earliest, that the giant swarm will continue to rise in Königsdorf. "The next two years will be taken," says Trachtler boss Franz Mayer. Are you interested? "We have to let that sink, I think." Namesake Georg bumps into the same horn: "First of all we have to lock the old one, then we will see further."

And trouble? "No idea. I'm mentally empty for now. ”But:“ The festival is largely planned, you just have to get everything out of the drawer. ”

One thing is most important to the trio now: "We would like to thank everyone, no matter how small or large their contribution was, and all sponsors and companies," emphasizes Franz Mayer, "Without everyone we would never have come this far. "
