Police said that the Task Force of the Traffic Enforcement and Control Section of the New Territories South Region launched an anti-illegal racing operation code-named "Flying Shield" in Sha Tin District during the early hours. The police stopped two cars when they chased Tai Po Road near Hao Dejie Road. Two local male drivers, aged 34 and 39, were arrested for "illegal racing", "dangerous driving", "driving an unlicensed vehicle" and "driving without valid third party insurance".

In addition, the police also stopped a high-speed motorcycle at the site. A 32-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of "driving an unlicensed vehicle" and "having no valid third-party insurance while driving". The three arrested persons have been granted bail pending investigation and must report to the police in early June. During the operation, 3 private cars and 5 motorcycles were suspected of being illegally modified and suspected of violating the "Road Traffic (Vehicle Construction and Maintenance) Regulations". The police dragged the detainee for further inspection.
