Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabei confirmed that any extension of the arms embargo against Iran threatens the fate of the nuclear agreement and the security of the region, indicating that he will meet a "harsh response" by his country.
Rabiei said in a statement today to Tasnim News Agency: “America should realize that the world and international agreements are not a game in its possession and that the extension of the embargo indicates its bullying towards the laws. ”
Rabiei continued: “The American administration plays an arrogant role and we believe that the rest of the nuclear agreement and the members of the Security Council will stand in the face of this American approach and that any extension of the arms embargo against Iran will be met with a harsh response by the Islamic Republic. America withdrew from the nuclear agreement and cannot use its content to achieve its goals and can Express an opinion as a member if it returns to the agreement.
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had condemned the American attempts to extend the arms embargo to Iran.
According to one of the provisions of International Resolution 2231, which entered into force in 2016, a ban was imposed on Iran that prevented it from purchasing offensive weapons, and this period will expire in October 2020.
