Germany is getting impatient. That is better than a people lying apathetically on the sofa. At the start of the big relaxation week, you should still look closely at the arguments. There is a lot of nonsense on the move: conspiracy theories or the ranting of the "light flu" - there were no runny nose victims in the 30,000 coffins in Italy. The rate of free intensive care beds does not indicate excessive measures, but effective measures, including a successful ramp-up of the clinic's capacities. We should listen even more closely to a previously quiet group in the middle of society: the parents who bear the main burden with childcare. Many families are approaching the stress limit.

Corona crisis: opening and closing schools would be a debacle

Perhaps they would also have liked to write pages-long letters to Merkel or Söder - but had no time between substitute lessons, home office, mask sewing and fear of existence. Many families support a clear course in health protection. But almost everyone wants to return to school and daycare, also to start working again.

But that's where caution is still to be expected. Customers go shopping and to the pub voluntarily, not to school - politics has a special duty to protect here. It would be a debacle to open schools and close again soon, in the middle of high school, because of Corona cases - even the need for care would start all over again. There will be intermediate steps this week, small groups for day care centers, timelines for individual classes - these are not miracle solutions, but at least there are prospects for families.
