Hairdressers are allowed to open again today. The joy is great with them and their customers. But there are a few things to consider. Fever measurement is also part of this.

Würmtal - Today, hairdressers are allowed to reopen their salons under strict conditions. The phones at the Pony Club hairdresser in Graefelfing have been ringing for a week now. "The demand for appointments is great," says Managing Director Moritz Hannappel. "It is the hairdresser's job to bring joy and good feelings," says Wolf-Dieter Grote of the "Hair Team" in Planegg. And that is currently more important than ever. The first week is fully booked with him.

It is not only a relief for customers, but also for hairdressers that the salons are allowed to open again. Due to the corona pandemic, Hannappel had to send all employees on short-time work and take out a KfW loan in order to bridge the past few weeks in which he was not allowed to open his shop. He paid a bonus of 500 euros to each employee. The short-time allowance would not have been enough, he says. "They live to a certain extent on tips," he explains.

Short-time employees

Now the world of hairdressers should become a little more normal again. But just a little. Grotes employees continue to work short-time. Because the distance rules do not allow as many employees to work at the same time as usual, means they have shorter working hours than before. The staff at the Pony Club in Gräfelfingen will also work in two shifts, shifted in time so that the two teams do not meet. Until they have washed their customers' hair, they wear gloves. Mouth guards are mandatory for employees and customers.

A maximum of ten people can enter the "Pony Club" at the same time. And for every guest, temperature is measured at the door. Those who are over 38 degrees must go again. "We don't want to have sick people in the shop," says Hannappel sternly. The managing director of the "Pony Club" took money in hand to make his hairdressing salon Corona-fit. He got medical thermometers as well as masks, disinfectants and a ventilation system, the filters of which clear the air of viruses. Together with his wife Ariela Grote-Pahl from “HaarVision” in Gräfelfing, Grote also created customer information with hygiene measures, which can be found on their website.

Wolf-Dieter Grote is happy that wearing a mouthguard is already compulsory in retail. "That gives us an advantage," he says. People are already a little used to it. He and his staff would change the mouthguard after each customer. "It will be demanding." And also expensive. "We can't avoid a hygiene surcharge," he says. Hannappel sees it similarly. The premium will of course be withdrawn as soon as the measures are no longer necessary, Grote assures.

Explanation via Whatsapp

Something like that is currently not an issue for Sabine Rausch from “Art & Beauty” in Krailling. She bought 50 masks even though she is currently on parental leave. She wants to start again in August and is now preparing for it. "I could imagine that it would take a little longer," she says of the corona pandemic. She is currently sending her customers the hair color they need. "I use WhatsApp to explain to them how to do it," she says. Noise is on the safe side. "Nothing happens to me." Her colleagues also try to minimize the risk of infection. Here Grote is important: "Despite mouthguards and many commands, we want to try to conjure up a warm atmosphere." Meanwhile, Hannappel hopes that there will be no second corona wave. "Then it gets bitter."
