The Palestinian Ministry of Information called on the international community to stop the Israeli occupation crimes against journalists and provide them with protection.

Wafa news agency quoted the ministry as saying in a statement on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which falls on May 3 of each year, that the occupation continues to target journalists, bomb their headquarters, storm them, arrest them, impede their movement, and tighten their grip on them. Desperate attempts to block their free voice and prevent them from exposing their daily crimes against the Palestinian people.

The Ministry called on the International Federation of Journalists and Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Expression to hold the occupation authorities accountable for their crimes against journalists and called on the UN Security Council to implement Resolution No. 2222 of 2015 on providing protection for journalists and ensuring that their attackers do not go unpunished.

For his part, Al-Asir Club indicated that the occupation authorities continue to arrest 12 journalists who face, along with thousands of their imprisoned comrades, great fears of the spread of the Corona virus, indicating that they are experiencing double suffering due to the continued arbitrary occupation measures since March of stopping the visits of their families and lawyers, which put the prisoners in isolation An additional obstruction to follow their affairs.

Al-Asir Club pointed out that the occupation authorities are stepping up their attacks on journalists in occupied Jerusalem and preventing, since last year, the Palestine TV team from working in the city and from communicating with some of them.
