Shortly after take-off, the twin-engine plane already had problems. The pilots tried unsuccessfully to come back to the departure airport.
Santa Cruz (dpa) - All six people on board were killed in Bolivia when a light twin-engine plane of the Bolivian Air Force FAB crashed.
The fatalities were two Bolivian crew members and four Spanish passengers, said the FAB. The Beechcraff Baron B-55 was therefore on a humanitarian aid flight from Trinidad, the capital of the Amazon department of Beni in the northeast, to Santa Cruz in the southeast. From there, a return flight to Spain is scheduled to start next week, bringing travelers stranded in the corona pandemic back to their home country. According to a rescue worker quoted by various Bolivian newspapers, the plane reported problems 15 minutes after takeoff. It tried unsuccessfully to come back to the departure airport. In addition to the passengers, the machine also transported samples from patients who may have been infected with the coronavirus.
