Confinement: to get a refund for your Navigo pass, you will have to wait at least until the end of May

2020-05-04T17:59:28.220Z

The 3 million annual and monthly subscribers will have to wait to be reimbursed up to 100 euros for the period from April to m

Regular users of transport in Ile-de-France have seen this in their bank accounts. The sums corresponding to the monthly payment for Navigo subscriptions were drawn in April and May. Since the start of confinement, annual subscribers cannot suspend their subscription, because this operation requires a physical deactivation of the Navigo card, in an agency or at an ATM. And to prevent thousands of people from reaching the Covid-19 epidemic outlets, this procedure was stopped.

Faced with this problem, Valérie Pécresse, president of Ile-de-France Mobilités, announced that all monthly and annual Navigo subscribers could file a reimbursement request of up to 100 euros for full price Navigo all zones (50 euros for the Imagin R card and the Navigo Senior). This sum covers the month of April and the first days of May. Cost of the operation for the regional authority in charge of transport: 130 million euros.

Beware of fraudulent sites!

As at the end of January, after the long strike in transport, it will be up to subscribers to make the move by going to a single website. "I asked the SNCF that the reimbursement platform be ready as quickly as possible, before the end of confinement," said Valérie Pécresse on April 16.

Expected at the start for the beginning of May, the date of online publication of this Internet portal, whose web address has still not been communicated, should be postponed. According to our information, the reimbursement portal should not be available before the end of May. Until then, beware if you come across a site claiming to compensate Navigo subscribers. It could be an attempted scam.

Towards a full refund for the month of May?

And after confinement? "We are encouraged to continue teleworking to limit the risk of contamination and not saturate transport, and yet we continue to charge us the monthly cost of the Navigo pass as if nothing had happened," said a resident of Val- d'Oise, who usually travels to his Paris office every day and expects to remain teleworking at least until the end of May. Undoubtedly, in turn, the question of reimbursement of the entire month of May will arise soon.
