"Mayor or nothing," Michael Dürr had said. Quite late, but still, the failed candidate is now making his announcement come true.

Schliersee - After only one term of office, the era of Michael Dürr as Schliersee town council ended. In the local elections, the free voter got enough votes to move back into the body. Now, however, he waives the mandate. The successor is Karl Hiermeyer.

Dürr is thus living up to its announcement from autumn 2019 that it only wants to move into the town hall as mayor. At the PWG nomination meeting, however, he let himself be put down for a candidacy on the bottom of the list - a common procedure to collect votes for the grouping. He had also announced at the meeting that he would decline in the event of an election. A fact with which the PWG did not peddle with all transparency promises in the rather restrained election campaign. Dürr has taken the time to implement his announcement. Usually, the elected municipal councilors should explain themselves within a week of the election. They used to be contacted for this. Not any longer longer.

At the last council meeting of the past term of office, Dürr made no move to announce his decision. When asked during the meeting, he said that he had not yet decided. The following day the cancellation was received in the town hall, whereupon the first successor Karl Hiermeyer was informed. Yesterday announced that he would accept the mandate. At the inaugural meeting this Tuesday - beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Bauerntheater - the co-owner of a bicycle parts trade could be sworn in along with seven other newcomers. However, as managing director Jörn Alkofer explains, he has to do without attacking the regularity of the meeting. Because of Dürr's late cancellation, the replacement could not be loaded on time.

The PWG is now entering the new term with completely new faces. After Dürr, Horst Teckhaus was elected to the body as the second representative of the party-free. Beatrix Seidenfus hadn't even started. The doctor recently got involved with her husband Christoph outside of the town council and launched the hiking trail project "Sights worth seeing Schliersee" and the "Schliersee reads" campaign, now postponed for one year due to Corona.

Wolfgang Schauer, who left the PWG Group together with Seidenfus two years after the beginning of the term, would have been available for another term. "I would have loved to continue," he says. But those present at the nomination meeting let him through. Apart from their own supporters, obviously no one chose Schauer who speaks openly of a "nomination trap" in this context. He should have been in the back, which he refused as well as his brother refused to appear on a list with Dürr. The once proud PWG (seven seats until 2014) started with a reduced list of eleven people and gained another mandate less than six years ago.
