New children's house: gas in the basement, photovoltaics on the roof

The planned four-group children's home in Eisenhofen is due to go into operation in autumn 2021. In its last meeting with the old members, the local council considered energy generation for heating and hot water.

Erdweg - Two options were considered: an independent heating system for the children's house and a system in connection with neighboring residents.

In this so-called energy contracting, a provider builds a heating system for a local heating network in the rooms of the children's home at his own expense and operates it for a contractually specified period. Customers pay an annual base price, the price for heat and a share of the investment costs. The system then passes to the customers. The operator takes on operational safety as well as the economic and operational risk. The buyers, i.e. building owners, do not need their own heating system.

According to Mayor Christian Blatt, this system requires the involvement of neighboring residents. The catch: there are eight buildings (private single and double houses). Their builders have expressed general interest, but at the time neither the offer nor the costs were known. And because of Corona, there was no information meeting. "In the end, it is unclear whether everyone will really participate, which would of course change the costs," said the community leader.

If everyone participated, the buyers would have to pay a one-time investment grant of 17 850 euros and an annual base price of 3830 euros each with a term of ten years.

The chairman of the "Energy and Environment" working group, Matthias Osterauer (free voters Erdweg), thought the solution was a "good story", but the costs speak against it. For comparison: The investment costs for independent heating systems are estimated at around 41,000 euros. There was a choice of pellet heating (high maintenance costs), a gas condensing boiler in connection with a solar thermal system (insufficient warm water consumption in kindergarten) and a gas condensing boiler in connection with an air source heat pump.

The latter convinced the committee that met in the school auditorium. The decisive factor was the high safety aspect of the system and the fact that no storage space is required. In connection with a photovoltaic system, even more can be saved.

This too is now to be installed on the roof as a system for self-consumption with a storage system and "residual feed". And that even brings annual revenue. Both decisions were made unanimously. The mayor should also initiate the conceptual steps and the interpretation.
