Five monuments and three major Tours in four months: the UCI unveils its new calendar

The International Cycling Union unveils its calendar for the rest of the 2020 season on Tuesday.


The International Cycling Union on Tuesday announced the dates of its new calendar after a number of cycling events have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Concerning the UCI World Tour events of ASO, the recovery will be carried out with the Critérium du Dauphiné from 12 to 16 August, in a format reduced to five days against eight usually, which will be of paramount importance in the necessary preparation of the riders in view from the Tour de France from August 29 to September 20. The start of this real mountain concentrate will be given from Clermont-Ferrand and the finish will be judged in Megève as initially planned.

In addition to the Grande Boucle, two major Tours remain on the peloton menu, the Giro from October 3 to 25 and the Vuelta from October 20 to November 8. It is precisely this Tour of Spain which must conclude this intensive program. Used in spring, the Ardennes classics will take place in autumn with the Flèche Wallonne on September 30 and Liège-Bastogne-Liège on October 4. For Paris-Roubaix, the date has been set for October 25 (Milano-San Remo to be held on August 8 and the Tour of Lombardy on October 31). Note, and this is a first, that women will also be entitled to their Paris-Roubaix, also on October 25.
