The Paris 2024 bill will “no doubt” be more salty than expected. Asked about the consequences that the health crisis could have on the preparation of the Paris Olympics, the Minister of Sports Roxana Maracineanu, this Tuesday, recognized that there will be "probably cost overruns. But know that all this is actively controlled by all stakeholders, all communities. The Cojo (Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games) does not manage its budget on its own but is subject to strict, collaborative control between the State and all the communities which are involved and if there are any adjustments to be made, we will vote on them and act them all together. But today this model was already a break from the classic model, ”she continued, not failing to emphasize that“ 95% of the equipment already exists ”. The entourage of the minister clarified, to AFP, that we should in particular expect an increase in prices in building in Ile-de-France because of the health crisis, which is "not measurable in the immediate future, but we are vigilant ”. The budget for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is divided into two parts: on the one hand, the component of long-term investments (Olympic aquatic center, athletes' village) currently stands at 3 billion euros, of which approximately 1, € 6 billion in public investment (State and local authorities) in 2016 value; on the other hand, the organizational component, managed by the Cojo, stands at this point at 3.8 billion euros, financed by private revenue (sponsors, ticket office, IOC contribution).
