Police have launched an investigation in California after a man put on a hood from the Ku Klux Klan, a racist organization known for his brutal acts, as a protective mask against coronavirus when shopping in a supermarket. "I am shocked, shocked because it is always sad when someone wears a symbol of hatred, whatever idea is behind it," said ABC local mayor John Minto, mayor of small town. Santee, near San Diego, where the events took place last weekend.

Images of the man wearing the KKK's traditional pointed white hood, pushing his cart through supermarket shelves, caused a stir and the Sheriff of San Diego announced the investigation. Store workers asked the customer to remove his hood, which he did upon arriving at the checkout, but police were not called to the scene during the incident, said Sheriff's services.
Tiam Tellez, a customer in the store who shared photos of the individual on Facebook, with and without a hood, described the scene as "disgusting" . Last week, San Diego County issued a decree ordering everyone to wear a mask in public places to fight the coronavirus.
