With local efforts and expertise, a technical team at the General Authority of the National Hospital of Hama was able to rehabilitate and maintain dozens of medical devices in the hospital, provide funds for the state treasury, and bypass the difficulty of securing, purchasing, and maintaining spare parts and equipment as a result of the economic blockade imposed on Syria.
Technician Bilal Al-Ahdab, a member of the engineering team implementing the medical devices maintenance work, indicated that among the priorities of the team’s work is to rehabilitate the medical competitors and maintain their readiness and effectiveness, in addition to the team's maintenance and repair of medical equipment required for surgical operations such as anesthesia and others.
Eng. Gerjnazi noted the unlimited support and encouragement that the technical team at the hospital receives from the Department of Medical Engineering at the Ministry of Health, which contributed to a comprehensive and qualitative maintenance campaign for the various medical equipment in the hospital.
Mohsen Shirdah, the worker in the hospital's engineering department, said: Our job was previously to follow up on minor faults of medical devices and detect them and to contact the suppliers or agents under maintenance contracts. However, under the current circumstances, there were no companies or agents left, which necessitated relying on our local expertise to rehabilitate Devices and keep them running.
For his part, Dr. Salim Khallouf, Director of the General Authority of the National Hospital of Hama, stated that the hospital's engineering office includes a group of engineers and maintenance technicians who are known for their competence and experience, which was demonstrated by their ability to maintain most medical equipment and return it to work again at a much lower material cost compared to its counterparts from importing from abroad .
