(CNN Spanish) -  With more than 40 years of artistic career, and after having ventured into genres such as pop, rancher and romantic, the Mexican singer Yuri decides to delve into the urban genre with the song "All the year", next to the Puerto Rican Nio García.

“I had already recorded with Yandel four years ago the song 'Al Bailar', which was an urban pop genre. 'All year long', which I recorded with Nio García, is more urban. He is very successful and recently recorded the hit that took him to international fame, the song “Te boté”, along with Nicky Jam and Ozuna, greats of urban music, and now, together with this Yuri popera, sister of the 'Osito Panda'".

Are there nerves, fear, emotion?

Yuri
“There is emotion. I am a person who loves to get out of the comfort zone, I like to have fun and venture into other genres. Thank God they work out for me, because no one has complained. I get a lot into the genre, in this case, in urban music, where you have to sing in a different way, but, in my case, without changing my essence. We eighties have a very modern and vibrato way of singing, and the people who directed me took it away from me. My voice is more youthful because I sing with a young boy, my normal voice does not match urban music and I had to adapt it. The  look  had to adapt and see how urban music singers dress. I studied all that. Nio and I agreed to see how we were going to dress. ”

Yuri was in charge of the most important elements for the realization of this theme, including the video clip that premiered at the same time, where he participated in the creative concept, image and executive production.

“About the song, one of my managers, Jorge Juárez, introduced me to the Luis Jiménez song and I loved it, I recorded it and we got to Nio García. They explained who I was and said he was riding and he loved the idea. We met in Cuba, together with José Rojas, the director of the video. We knew the locations and decided what they were going to be, ”says Yuri.

This time, there is no story as such in the video. “They are spectacular settings. We went to an abandoned theater from the fifties that is spectacular, and to a hacienda that was a very famous restaurant 35 minutes from Havana, "added the singer.

What did you learn from Nio García?

Yuri
“I definitely like learning from young people. I did a song where Jesse & Joy directed me, whom I love and admire very much. Jesse spoke to me. Many questioned me how a little boy was going to direct me, and I sang like I had never sang before. Now I am with Nio and his energy, which he brings as a kid. At that age we want to eat the whole world. That grabbed by the new generations, that passion to eat the world that, I think, the eighties cannot lose. That is important to be effective. Their energy, how they connect to networks.

Who does a Yuri duet dream of doing?

Yuri
“I am a woman of great faith. I dream of making a duet with many Mexican singers that I admire and love very much. I would like to make one with the Mexican poperas, like Alejandra Guzmán, Gloria Trevi and Thalía, who are at their best. With Olga Tañón, who is just as crazy as me. I think we could do something wonderful, I like how he sings and how he dances. I am the Mexican singer who has done the most duets, both recorded and unrecorded, among them Alejandro Fernández, Don Vicente Fernández, Ana Gabriel, Joan Sebastián and Maná, among many. I have had the privilege of linking my voice with the great voices and the great singers of the entire world.

"All Year" premieres this Tuesday, May 5, on all music platforms, including the video on YouTube. We invite you to listen to the full interview, where you can also hear how he lives this quarantine with his family, and how he has enjoyed it to the fullest. She also talks about what she thinks of the adaptation of her song "La maldita primavera" by "La maldita tragadera", and the next adaptation that she herself will make of the song "What's wrong with you?".
