They are said to have followed a call on social networks: Hundreds of people gather in Berlin to protest against the Corona requirements. This again leads to an attack on media representatives.

Berlin (dpa) - In an unauthorized demonstration against the corona restrictions, an ARD camera team was attacked in front of the Reichstag building in Berlin.

A protester was arrested, the police said. According to the ARD capital's studio, a participant in the meeting spontaneously separated from the crowd and kicked a sound assistant.

The police responded immediately. The cameraman and sound assistant are doing well. A camera team had already been attacked in Berlin on May 1st.

The head of the ARD capital studio, Tina Hassel, tweeted: "Fortunately our team is doing well, but such attacks against the #press are disgusting! #ARD team was attacked".

According to the police, 350 to 400 people had gathered in front of the Reichstag building. They apparently followed a call on social media, as suggested by posters they brought with them. Because of the pandemic, demos with up to 50 participants are currently allowed in Berlin.

Police officers had sought the conversation and pointed out the distance rules, said a police spokeswoman. "Emergency personnel repeatedly asked people to leave the square in person and via loudspeakers and ultimately dissolved the crowd," the police tweeted.

Eyewitnesses reported that very different groups were on site. Many people were aggressive. Participants shouted "We are the people". Some had Germany flags with them. The poster of a protester read: "Let life run its course again." The police did not provide details of the participants.

Among other things, there were insults, acts of resistance and assault against police officers, said the police spokeswoman. The officials enforced expulsions and took the personal data of 24 people. A total of 260 police officers were deployed, and the mission ended at around 7 p.m.

On May 1st, a team from the ZDF satellite broadcast "heute-show" was attacked in Berlin. It turned at a demonstration against the Corona rules on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Afterwards, the camera team was attacked by a group of masked offenders. According to the ZDF, six people were injured and had to be taken to the hospital. The satirist Abdelkarim said that the attack on his ZDF camera team was like a brutal war film.

Opponents of the containment ordinances from all possible political directions had recently demonstrated against the corona measures in front of the Volksbühne. Among the participants were right-wing populists and supporters of conspiracy theories. These meetings were also not allowed.
