The death toll from the emerging coronavirus in Latin America has crossed the threshold of 15,000, more than half of them in Brazil alone, according to a census conducted by AFP today, according to official data.
The census showed that the total number of people infected with the 19 Covid epidemic in the continent reached more than 282 thousand people, more than a third of them in Brazil alone, with 114175 patients, of whom 7921 died.

Ecuador extends the state of emergency as a result of the Coruna outbreak for 30 days
The President of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, also announced the extension of the state of emergency imposed in the country against the backdrop of the outbreak of the Corona Virus emerging as a coved 19 for a period of 30 days, starting from the 16th of this month.
Moreno wrote on Twitter: “With the support of the Security Council in Ecuador, we have taken a decision to extend the state of emergency for another 30 days from May 16 as well as conducting approved public service budget reviews,” according to Sputnik today.
Moreno pointed out that "the Security Council is ready to start a comprehensive review of public services budgets to include 10 to 15 percent of budgets that will not affect the main functions of state institutions and that the implementation of the changes will be supported by the Ministry of Finance."
The lifting of quarantine restrictions in Ecuador started in stages in the 4 th of this month, with isolation still in effect for people over the age of 60, closing the borders, banning the movement of cars between provinces and collective activities, while continuing the educational process remotely.
According to the latest data, the number of confirmed infections with the emerging coronavirus in the country has reached 31,881 cases and deaths 1,569 people.
