Vincent Collet, head of the Blues, and Valérie Garnier, who heads the women's selection, will keep their positions until the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The coaches of the French basketball teams, Vincent Collet and Valérie Garnier, will remain in post until the Tokyo Olympic Games in the summer of 2021, the French Federation (FFBB) announced on Thursday. Collet, the men's coach, and Garnier, the women's coach, were under contract until the summer of 2020, but their engagement was extended following the one-year postponement of the Games due to the Covid pandemic -19.

He had so far combined the functions of coach and club coach in Villeurbanne and then in Strasbourg. These conditions will also apply to Valérie Garnier, 55, who had worn two caps while training Bourges then Fenerbahçe.

The French teams have already obtained their ticket for the Olympic Games, the men taking third place in the World Cup-2019 and the women winning a qualification tournament. The Games are scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

In addition, the FFBB announced that Céline Dumerc, the former Blue captain and holder of the selection record (262), would become general manager of the French women's team "in the near future". The leader plans to continue her playing career at Basket Landes next season. This position is held for men by Patrick Beesley, with Boris Diaw as assistant. Both have been extended by one year.
