A truck of masks made of cloth turned like a van of conveyors. A convoy which transported the precious protections intended for several municipalities of Est Ensemble, in Seine-Saint-Denis, but also of Seine-et-Marne, was the target this Thursday at the Franco-Spanish border of criminals who have taken control on the cargo.
The masks, made of fabric, washable and reusable, were to be distributed this week in Montreuil, Bobigny or Bondy, but also in Chelles, in Seine-et-Marne. Patrice Bessac, PC mayor of Montreuil, strongly condemned this theft “which endangers the people of Montreuil. 50,000 of these masks were intended to be distributed to residents this weekend for the purpose of deconfinement. "
Distribution was scheduled to start this week
The mask order was placed on April 16 by the municipality of Montreuil with other cities of Est-Ensemble and other territories for an amount of € 112,000. Sissi entreprise, a Val-de-Marne company specializing in fabric manufacturing, answered the call. To carry out the operation, it called on its suppliers in Portugal.
The city of Montreuil, which was to deposit these masks in mailboxes, has also planned an additional device for the distribution of 60,000 units in all districts, from Thursday, May 14. This last component, which depends on other orders, is maintained.
"We are doing everything in our power to obtain, as soon as possible, an additional delivery which will make it possible to maintain, in the days to come, the distribution in the mailboxes of a mask per household", indicates Patrice Bessac, Thursday evening.
