Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun confirmed that the massacres committed by France in the country "will remain a stigma in the forehead of the colonial powers and will not fall out of time, despite repeated attempts to whiten them."
The massacres revealed categorically the true face of French colonial colonialism, stressing that they were crimes against humanity and civilizational values because they were based on ethnic cleansing to replace the indigenous population with the recruitment of strangers, according to the Algerian News Agency. And on separating the Algerian man from his roots, plundering his wealth and denigrating his personality with all its essentials.
Taboun pointed out that all attempts to whitewash France's colonial image in Algeria "will be doomed to failure," calling on historians to "clarify all aspects of this station and other stations in the memory of the Algerian nation."
The Algerian President also issued a decision to consider May 8 of each year as a "National Memory Day" and gave instructions to launch a national television channel for history.
