A Reuters count revealed that newborn coronavirus deaths in the United States have surpassed 75,000 people today.
According to the agency's count and data analysis from the Covid Tracking Project, the number of people living with the virus has reached more than 1.25 million, with new cases continuing to rise in several states, including Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The states of New York and New Jersey, which have the highest number of cases, have witnessed a decline in new infections in the past few weeks.
And some health experts expect an increase in the number of deaths later this summer, with US states lifting orders to stay at home and the flow of Americans into restaurants and going to the gyms again.
