The Directorate of Agriculture in Homs began rehabilitating the date palm breeding centers in Palmyra and its Badia after it was damaged and stopped working during the past years due to terrorism before it was destroyed from the area.

The assistant director of Palmyra Department, director of palm propagation centers Ahmed Saud Youssef, stated in a statement to a SANA reporter that inventory work was done and the number of trees in these centers were counted and pruned and farming was carried out in addition to rehabilitation and operation of some wells to secure water and save the rest of the palm trees planted in these centers He pointed to the need to maintain and rehabilitate all wells and irrigation networks that were destroyed by terrorists in these centers for their role in securing water and irrigation of lands.

Youssef explained that three date palm breeding centers had previously been established in Palmyra and its beginning is the Palmyra Propagation Center, which is located about 10 km east of the city, on a highway to Palmyra, Deir Al-Zour, with an area of ​​1,000 dunums. There were previously about 5,000 trees and currently 3,000 trees and a palm center Sebkha Moh destroyed about 8000 trees previously planted, and there are currently about 4,500 trees remaining, and there is the center of the Zenobia Oasis, where 3600 trees were previously planted, and there are currently about 2000 trees remaining in it.
