Grenoble: a squatter kills himself by jumping from the thirteenth floor to escape the police

Two people who were squatting housing in Grenoble tried to escape from a police control, come to check if the apartment was illegally occupied, jumped on the balcony below but one of them fell from the 13th floor and s 'is killed, AFP learned Thursday from concordant sources.

Police intervened around noon at the request of the social landlord Grenoble Habitat for a squat on the thirteenth floor, in a dwelling whose locks had been changed, said the police. On the spot, the police, accompanied by a representative of the lessor, knocked on the door. If no one came to open, noises were heard inside. The police then noted that " a man had jumped into the void from the apartment ".

This 36-year-old man was known to the police, the gendarmerie and the justice system. The firefighters and the Samu, called, could not do anything for the dead man, indicated the emergency services. The second man had " managed to jump onto the balcony of the apartment located just below, on the twelfth floor, while his partner fell into the void ." He was arrested and taken into police custody. It was the subject of a research mandate.
