It couldn't be any shorter than in Andechs: Robert Klier and Christian Kaiser deputy mayors

In the first joint meeting of the new Andechs municipal council, the second and third mayors had to be elected. In both cases, the vote was extremely close.

Andechs - Dressed up like on the first day of school, the newly elected councilors stood in the gymnasium of the primary school in Erling. And were equally excited. After all, it was the first session as a member of the panel for nine of the 16 members of the local parliament. And for Andechs' new mayor Georg Scheitz, the swearing-in was his first official act.

"Schorsch, you have already taken your rightful place," said Christine Hirschberger (citizens' group) when, as the oldest member of the council, she took the oath of office at the beginning of the meeting and wished him "a good, successful term". In order to keep the proper distance, Scheitz had to put the chain of office around himself. With this around his neck, he sworn in, also at a distance, the new councilors.

Ex-opposing candidate becomes deputy

The subsequent elections for the second and third mayors were unexpected and extremely short. There were several suggestions, which Scheitz praised as a long-standing member of the committee with the words "that was not always the case". The willingness to be deployed is evidence of great local political commitment, he said.

As expected, Erasmus Höfler (Citizens' Group) recommended his group colleague Robert Klier as Second Mayor. He was convinced that Klier could bring his "knowledge of hydraulic engineering, road construction and the construction of public schools very, very valuable," said Höfler. He also got the most votes as a councilor. Klier, as a candidate for mayor of the Scheitz citizens' group, accepted with thanks and emphasized that "after the election campaign" the situation was new.

But the Greens would also have liked to claim the office in view of the increase in one seat. Judith Roschmann therefore proposed Peter Schmaderer as a candidate from within her own ranks. He thanked him and stated that he had been on the town council for five years. "I know about the processes here. I know a lot about the local government, ”he said. But the result of the vote was against Schmaderer, albeit very scarce: Klier received nine votes, Schmaderer eight.

Greens also fail in the second attempt

Judith Roschmann then sent Schmaderer into the race for the second deputy post. Florian Frey (CSU), on the other hand, pleaded for Stefan Dorn (CSU) as the third mayor, which he justified with his "many years of experience as group leader". And Christian Kaiser (SPD) raised itself. It is important to him that all districts are heard, he said. Scheitz and Klier are located in Erling like Schmaderer and Dorn. Kaiser is at home in Frieding and said that he wanted to "support Frieding and Machtlfing and the clubs in which I am involved".

"What I now notice is a strong tendency towards a first, second and third male mayor," said Georg Scheitz and asked the four women on the committee to also stand for election. But none of them wanted to compete.

In the first round, Dorn and Kaiser each had six votes, Schmaderer five. As in the election of the Second Mayor, the following run-off election produced a narrow result: eight votes for Dorn, nine for Kaiser. The last remaining social democrat in the Andech council is the third mayor.
