Take care of our entrepreneurs, the health of our economy depends on it!

Blandine Mulliez and Thibault de Saint Simon, the president and CEO of the Entrepreneur Foundation, call for trusting the entrepreneurs who hold the keys to economic recovery in France and more widely in the world.

Blandine Mulliez and Thibault de Saint Simon, respectively president and managing director of the Fondation Entreprendre, sign for Le Figaro a forum in which they indicate that it is thanks to the creativity, energy and commitment of entrepreneurs that France, and more broadly, the economic world can recover.

“The unprecedented global crisis of Covid-19 has highlighted an astonishing paradox: on the one hand the lack of means of our healthcare system and the fragility of our economy and on the other hand the great resilience, the capacity to adapt and the solidarity of the French and our society.

How can we not be in awe of the caregivers who have committed themselves without limit despite the risks in this battle in the face of the epidemic? How can you not admire second-line professions for the livelihood of French people: food businesses, transporters, garbage collectors, etc.? So many badly recognized professions, each of which today measures the usefulness. How can we not admire the momentum of solidarity of the French who mobilize at home, in their business, through associations, to help those who need it?

The health battle is not yet over, but we must already begin to take up the economic challenge whose scope we are not yet measuring but which will be the worst economic crisis since 1945 according to Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy.

We must now move forward with the desire to collectively create a more just, sustainable and sustainable society that will also learn from this crisis

We must now move forward with the desire to collectively create a more just, sustainable and sustainable society that will also learn from the lessons of this crisis. The Entreprendre Foundation, recognized as a public utility, is convinced that it is in particular through the creativity, energy and commitment of entrepreneurs that we can rebuild our economy and ensure that we collectively rise up stronger.

With the associative actors in the fields that we support, the Entreprendre Foundation measures the needs and the priority axes on which we can act now to prepare for tomorrow. In addition to the financial measures taken in particular by the State, entrepreneurs need often vital support during this difficult period, in order to make the correct diagnosis on the situation of their business and be guided towards the appropriate assistance systems. It is therefore necessary to intensify the work of listening, personalized follow-up and moral support.

Aware that not all entrepreneurs will be able to recover, the needs will be all the more pressing to heal wounds and help them rebound. The COFACE barometer dated April 6 indicates that corporate default should increase by 25% worldwide and 15% in France…

In the context of this crisis, the creations of conventional businesses fell by 30% and the registrations of micro-entrepreneurs already fell by almost 20% in March 2020

It will also be essential to support those who wish to embark on entrepreneurship, sometimes to respond to a problem of unemployment but still driven by the desire to create economic activity that will help rebuild our economy. According to INSEE, in the context of this crisis, the creation of conventional businesses fell by 30% and the registrations of micro-entrepreneurs already fell by almost 20% in March 2020…

It is therefore more than ever necessary to support the entrepreneurial momentum by offering the possibility of developing one's skills, entrepreneurial posture, and network. We will need entrepreneurs to rebuild the economy, they will need us to overcome their difficulties and succeed in launching into a context which will be particularly complicated.

We will need entrepreneurs to rebuild the economy, they will need us to overcome their difficulties and succeed in launching into a context that will be complicated

Blandine Mulliez and Thibault de Saint Simon

We are finally convinced that we must develop a more resilient society through entrepreneurship. Companies that have integrated the social and environmental challenges of our society by placing them at the heart of their economic model, those working to revitalize fragile territories, will participate in the development of a more sustainable, more inclusive and therefore stronger society. We need to learn from this crisis and encourage the development of companies that know how to embrace their societal mission and thus reconcile utility and profitability.

The Fondation Entreprendre therefore hopes that the momentum of mobilization in this period of crisis will not weaken in the coming weeks and that everyone will remain mobilized to support our entrepreneurs on the front line to rebuild our economy. ”
