Tino Schlagintweit (Bündnis 90 / Grüne) is the second mayor in Unterschleissheim. The previous Vice Mayor Stefan Krimmer (CSU) was defeated. The decision was made by lot on Thursday evening. There had been a 15:15 stalemate in two ballots before.

The electoral thriller at the constituent meeting of the city council begins with the news that Peter Rein (SPD) fell ill the day before. So a voice is missing that would have been the deciding factor.

While SPD faction leader Thomas Breitenstein proposed new city councilor Tino Schlagintweit from the Greens for the office of the second mayor, Friedrich Kiener (CSU) brings the previous vice chairman, Stefan Krimmer (CSU), into the race. In the election campaign, like Schlagintweit, Krimmer was one of the challengers of Mayor Christoph Böck (SPD).

But in the person of Stefan Krimmer, Böck and his SPD faction do not want to bring the election campaign to the town hall. In the SPD's view, the trustful cooperation with Krimmer and the CSU has become increasingly difficult in the past tenure. Therefore, the SPD supports Tino Schlagintweit, as it announced in a press release the day before (we reported). ÖDP city councilor Bernd Knatz probably votes in the secret election for Schlagintweit. Krimmer is thus apparently elected with the votes of the CSU, Free Citizenship, AfD and FDP. After two ballots with a stalemate situation, the lottery decision follows.

As the oldest member of the city council, Antje Kolbe (SPD) has the role of the lucky fairy. Under observation of the election committee, consisting of Friedrich Kiener (CSU), Thomas Breitenstein (SPD) and Brigitte Huber (Greens), Antje Kolbe pulls one of the two envelopes with the names of the candidates from a box. When the envelope is opened and the name "Schlagintweit" is called into the room, the SPD ranks are relieved.

In the future, the office of the third mayor will be held by Annegret Harms (SPD). It can collect 16 votes in the first ballot, with ten votes cast invalid and one vote each for Heide Kurz (FB), Martin Reichart (FB), Brigitte Weinzierl (CSU) and Natalie Straßer.
