Following a series of incidents that occurred in the region last year, and as a result of its withdrawal from the nuclear agreement, the US significantly boosted its forces in the Gulf in preparation for a possible confrontation • Now the US military has begun to remove patriot batteries and fighter jets from the region • US officials: "Iran is no immediate threat"

Wall Street Journal report: The United States has removed an array of patriot missiles in Saudi Arabia and is even considering reducing additional forces in the country, which could signal the end of widespread military armaments in an area designed to threaten Iran, officials said.

US missile batteries were stationed in Saudi Arabia, along with dozens of military personnel sent to the area, following a series of attacks on Saudi oil facilities in 2019. The attacks were part of an escalation of hostility between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The report noted that two US fighter jets also left the area, and the United States will also consider reducing the US Navy presence in the Persian Gulf soon.

According to the report, the changes the US is making to its Saudi power base are currently based on official estimates that Tehran no longer poses an immediate threat to US strategic interests.

• After the Saudi attack: The Pentagon warns of escalation in the Persian Gulf

• Zarif: "Assault on us will bring total war"

• Revolutionary Guards Commander: "We will destroy those who come closer to our borders"

• Following the offensive: The United States will send additional troops to Saudi Arabia

Apparently, one of the reasons the United States no longer sees Iran as an immediate threat is the Corona crisis. Some of them died from the virus.

Just last October, the Pentagon announced the sending of a large military force to Saudi Arabia following the cruise missile and hovercraft attacks against the country's oil facilities.

Despite attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, US security forces have been trying to calm the winds in those days to avoid widespread military action against Iran. The Washington Post reported in September 2019, close to the attacks, that several Pentagon officials called for a measured response from the administration against Iran who claimed to be behind the events.

According to a Washington Post report, senior officials have argued that a hasty military operation could endanger the 70,000 US military personnel in the Persian Gulf, and since US targets were not attacked - direct attack on Iran is not a necessary move.
