Washington-SANA, US media reported that the United States is working to reduce its military presence in Saudi Arabia

Washington-Sana

US media reported that the United States is working to reduce its military presence in Saudi Arabia, in a move that observers believe is aimed at serving the electoral agendas of US President Donald Trump in what others consider a new move to extort Saudi Arabia financially.

"The United States withdrew two batteries from the four Patriot anti-missile batteries present in the kingdom," the US Bloomberg website quoted an official, who asked not to be named, adding, "The Patriot systems of Saudi forces will replace the two American batteries."

According to Bloomberg, the United States has withdrawn two squadrons of combat aircraft and is also considering reducing its naval presence in the Gulf.

Several sources indicated that the step of the American president carries a message to the interior of the presidential elections that will take place next November, in addition to constituting a new blackmail for the Saudi regime by intimidating the threats it faces from its neighbors.

In turn, the Wall Street Journal quoted unnamed US officials as saying that the United States would withdraw 4 Patriot batteries from Saudi Arabia in addition to dozens of military personnel who were sent there after the missile attacks on oil installations last year.

When asked yesterday about the decision to withdraw the Patriot batteries, the American President said: "I do not want to speak, but there are movements of our forces in the Middle East and the world."

It is noteworthy that the threat to cut military support for years has turned into a trump card that the United States used with the Saudi regime to achieve its goals and re-used recently, after Trump issued a clear warning to this system in order to move towards reducing oil production and reaching an agreement in this regard.
