Berlin (dpa) - On the 75th anniversary of the end of the World War, the Brandenburg Gate was illuminated on Friday evening with the words "Thank you" in several languages. The thanks were seen in Russian, English, French and German.
"The capitulation came into force in the late evening hours of May 8, 1945. With the projection, Berlin wants to send a signal, send a message and, 75 years after the end of the Second World War, thank the Allies for the liberation of Europe from National Socialism," said von the Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH.
With the surrender of the German Wehrmacht on the evening of May 8, 1945, the Second World War in Europe ended.
