The National Assembly voted on Friday to extend the winter truce on rental evictions until July 10, due to the coronavirus crisis.
The Minister of Housing Julien Denormandie announced Thursday an extension until " in July ", the precise date to be fixed by the parliamentarians.

MEPs adopted an LREM amendment which provides for an extension until 10 July, the same date as the extension of the state of health emergency, with two additional months in the Overseas Territories.
The Minister of Health Olivier Véran gave a favorable opinion in the hemicycle, arguing that " in exceptional circumstances, exceptional decision " and saying to have " heard the request which has been that of many associations ". This extension corresponds to that of the state of health emergency which " we hope not to have to extend further ", he added.

In mid-March, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron announced, as part of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, a first unprecedented two-month postponement of the end of the winter break. The associations expect, with the drop in income caused by the confinement and the economic crisis caused, an explosion in rent arrears and an increase in eviction procedures brought by the owners.
