(CNN Spanish) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica expressed its concern on Wednesday about the statements of the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, who questioned the statistics on the incidence of cases in Costa Rica and other Central American countries.
During a national television channel and also broadcast by official social networks in El Salvador, Bukele said that "Costa Rica would give us the false impression that they have flattened the curve, but really only the amount of evidence has dropped."
In a press release, the Costa Rican authorities said that democratic institutions and respect for human rights have allowed Costa Rica to have a first-rate health system to deal with covid-19.
