Tartus-Sana
The popular markets in Tartous give consumers the opportunity to obtain food, vegetables and fruits directly from the product and enable farmers and producers to display and sell their products at competitive prices away from the brokerage, merchant and monopoly rings.
The farmer Ali Al-Saleh, a resident of Al-Shatboush village in Al-Draikish countryside, confirmed that he carried almost daily his agricultural products produced by his small field next to his house to sell in the popular market at Nahr Al-Ghamma site.
Al-Saleh, who used to deliver these products to traders in the Al-Hal market in the city, decided to take advantage of the opportunity to sell directly through the market, explaining that he sells his products such as capsicum, cucumber, tomatoes, beans, etc. at the cost price.
The Commission of Cardamom Traders in Tartous indicated that it contributes to the initiative by providing the market with agricultural products at cost price as confirmed by Nazih Mansour, a member of the committee stating that daily the market is provided with about 5 tons of various vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, beans, etc. with the aim of making the market experience successful and enabling the citizen to obtain On vegetables at a cost price, as the committee bears transportation costs and dispense with the profits of the 15 percent it was getting from farmers in exchange for marketing their produce.
The market was an important opportunity for Ms. Umm Ward, from the neighborhood of Al-Areed, to shop at the cheapest prices, as she confirmed that she was visiting the market to obtain products at reduced prices.
