The Venezuelan attorney general confirmed to CNN this Sunday that two former US military officers appeared before a court in their country after their capture. Tarek William Saab stated that the appearance was on Friday night. Luke Denman and Airan Berry, two former green berets in the US military, were detained in Venezuela last weekend in what the Nicolás Maduro regime describes as a failed US-sponsored invasion attempt. According to Saab, the two former military officers face terrorism, arms trafficking and criminal association charges for the incursion described as "mercenary operation" by Maduro. Meanwhile, the questioned President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, spoke on Saturday on official television and social networks to Juan Guaidó, president of the National Assembly and recognized as president in charge of 55 countries, as a fugitive from justice. Venezuela's vice president of communications Jorge Rodríguez assured that an expert certified that the Guaidó firm appears in a contract with the company Silvercorp, which was in charge of the operation. For his part, Guaidó has distanced himself from the alleged plan and denies having signed the document.
