It is not endowed, but it is absolutely valuable: Christian Stückl received the honorary award in the “Civil Courage” category from the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing.
Oberammergau - Great honor for Christian Stückl from the renowned Evangelische Akademie Tutzing: The director of the Munich Volkstheater and director of the Oberammergau Passion Play will receive the non-doped honorary award in the "Civil Courage" category (tolerance award) this year. In doing so, he makes "an indispensable and unmistakable contribution to understanding in the world of theater that people of different religious origins can live together peacefully in a plural society."
According to its director Udo Hahn, the academy recognizes his “longstanding commitment to anti-Semitism. Stagings like “Ghetto”, “The Deputy”, “Nathan the Wise”, “Job” or “The Merchant of Venice” are passionate pleadings against racism and anti-Semitism ”. In addition, as head of the Passion Play, he had shown courage and persuasiveness to free them from anti-Judaism and thus contributed to the reconciliation of Christians and Jews.
Cabaret artist Christian Springer and journalist Dunja Hayali have also received the honorary award.
