He notably expressed his concern about Sirous Asgari, an Iranian scientist who, according to Iranian diplomacy, contracted the new coronavirus in detention. The Iranian foreign ministry said last week that everything was "ready" to "repatriate it soon . "

"Bullshit!" , the US Department of Homeland Security official Ken Cuccinelli replied on Twitter on Monday. Addressing Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif, he wrote: "After having procrastinated for months while we were trying to fire you Sirous Asgari, you wake up one fine morning and say that you want to repatriate him".

“We have eleven of your fellow citizens in an irregular situation whom we are trying to send back to your country. You suddenly SAY that you want to get them back, so why don't you send a plane so that we can send them all back at once? ” Asked the US official. "Send the plane!"

"Stop saying nonsense!" , Iranian diplomacy spokesman Abbas Moussavi replied, also on Twitter. According to him, Mohammad Javad Zarif "has put on the table a universal exchange of prisoners since September 2018" , without success.

American diplomacy had not denied possible negotiations on the prisoners on Sunday. "We are not conducting sensitive diplomatic discussions through the media," she said.
