Military of Mexico will have public security tasks

The Mexican Army and Navy will participate in public security tasks for the next five years, according to an agreement published by the president in the Official Gazette of the Federation. The document orders the Armed Forces to work in coordination with the National Guard. In his 2018 presidential campaign, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador spoke out against the military taking over security in the country.
