The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Rima Qadri, affirmed that the sectors most affected by the precautionary measures to tackle the Corona virus are the tourism sector, transport, and self-employed people, and that efforts are underway to secure support for all affected segments.
Kadri said in an interview with Al-Akhbariya news channel tonight that a digital channel has been opened to register the targeted groups in a scholarship instead of unemployment, as the number of those registered has reached 450 thousand, including 379105 thousand daily-workers, the largest among the registered and the rest of the elderly and people with disabilities.
Minister Qadri pointed out that after counting the numbers, messages were sent to registrants to complete their data, indicating that 125,000 names out of the total registered workers completed registration and were sorted according to targeting criteria in the previous sectors, so the number of workers who deserved the grant reached 76 thousand and their data was sorted at the governorate level so that Verification by teams within the neighborhoods and sent by the governors officially.
Minister Qaderi drew attention to the possibility that there is non-serious information or a process of entering information that does not correspond to reality, therefore windows were available to register workers through trade unions, craftsmen, and tourism chambers with a view to creating a broader targeting base, explaining that the data whose reliability was confirmed reached 20 thousand names, where Its data was checked with the database in social insurance institutions and they are the first batch of beneficiaries who will receive letters explaining to them how to get the grant due to them.
Minister Qadri indicated that coordination with the Ministry of Finance is carried out by assigning financial accreditors to deliver the amounts to the various regions in the governorates and to determine the places of distribution and they are continuing with a rigorous verification mechanism for the total data of the registrants on the digital channel. And expanding the ability to target the largest possible number, indicating that legal measures will be taken against everyone who provides misleading and incorrect information, whether from individuals, neighborhood committees, or those in charge of the verification process in the ministries and unions concerned.
Minister Qadri explained that the amount is a vested right of the person that is kept in the event that he cannot obtain it as long as his name is included in the lists, indicating that the registration door was closed after the service remained open for about a month.
Minister Qadri said that the percentage of coverage reached about 79 percent by varying between governorates and in governorates has reached 100 percent, calling for concerted efforts and the provision of resources more broadly as the government is the largest contributor through the funds it can provide and through social support funds.
