El Salvador tightens quarantine measures 3:21

(CNN Spanish) -  The representatives of five civil society institutions in El Salvador presented their irrevocable resignation on Monday to the committee that would supervise the funds approved by the Executive for the management of covid-19.

In the text of the resignation, they argue that they have not had access to verification of the use of economic resources, so the reason why they were invited is not met.

Through a statement, the government assures that the resignation was -in reality- due to the unwillingness of these representatives to undergo a review of their assets.

The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, reacted through his Twitter account: “They request transparency, accountability and honesty. But when the same thing is asked of them, the better they leave. They ask that we allow ourselves to be helped. But when they are given a voice and vote in the management of public funds, they do not want to be audited. Not even by the Supreme Court of Justice. ”

For its part, Congress summoned those who resigned so that this Wednesday they could explain their reasons before the plenary session. It was the Legislative Branch that approved and decided
that the US $ 2 billion destined to handle the emergency by COVID-19, would be audited by a multidisciplinary commission made up of five ministers and the same number of delegates from civil society.
