Update of May 12, 15:59: Sad reality in the North Sea : In a tragic accident off the Dutch coast are five surfers were killed . According to police, the surfers had been torn away on Monday in front of a beach in Scheveningen near The Hague in strong wind in the churning sea.
Two of the crashed surfers were trained lifeguards , said Den Haag's "night mayor" Pat Smith on The Hague FM radio station . They had disappeared into the spray while exercising, which "had hit them like an avalanche".
