The number of deaths in Italy from the Corona Covid 19 virus rose to 172 today from 179 recorded yesterday, but the daily toll of the number of new infections increased from 744 yesterday to 1402 today.
Reuters quoted the Italian Civil Protection Agency as saying that the total number of deaths since the outbreak of the virus on February 21 now stands at 30,911 in the third largest number of deaths from Corna in the world after the United States and Britain.
The agency noted that the number of people registered as carrying the disease is now reduced to 82,266 from 82,488 the previous day.
The number of confirmed cases of the virus in Italy reached 221216, which is the fifth highest in the world after the United States, Spain, Britain and Russia.
The agency said that the virus detection tests were conducted for 74.7 million people, compared to 1.702 million yesterday, out of a total of about 60 million people.
