With the "Beauty and Health Secret Weapon Amino Acid", Geltinger's Mara Kleespies and Münsinger Marion Siegle want to stir up the competitive food supplements market. Your young company "itsme.now" is based in Gelting.

Geretsried - Sometimes it takes a nudge to know whether you are going the right way. Marion Siegle helped one of her two cats. The cat, just a few months old, suddenly couldn't walk anymore, the hind legs constantly buckled. "We ran from clinic to clinic, from veterinarian to veterinarian, paid a lot of money. But nobody could help. ”A doctor finally advised Siegle and her husband to get carnitine and the coenzyme Q10 and to sprinkle the animal in the feed. "It didn't take a week," swears Siegle, "then the cat moved again, became more and more agile, and after ten days the thing was eaten." For the 55-year-old, an indication that dietary supplements can work, "because the cat knows." yes no placebo effect ”.

Siegle himself also overcame her temporary sleep problems with the help of amino acids and Co. and is happy “about stronger connective tissue”. She had previously hardly dealt with the topic of dietary supplements. "It was more Mara's thing. She has always read a lot about it and knows her way around very well. ”Siegle, on the other hand, is“ the type who has to try out and experience something for himself. And I felt that a lot of things in my body change for the better ”.

Kleespies reads, Siegle tests

Kleespies' interest and Siegle's experiences had consequences: In early 2018, they founded the company "Die NEMs GmbH" and created the "itsme.now" brand. The two women have known each other since the 1990s. Both worked at Sport Scheck in Munich for over 20 years - Kleespies in the company's e-commerce, Siegle in the press department. Colleagues quickly became good friends - and business partners two years ago.

Now the idea of selling supplements is not necessarily new. The industry is huge, competition is fierce. In fact, some friends and acquaintances shook their heads. ", Pretty brave. How can you give up your good jobs and get involved in such a business? 'Many asked us, ”says Siegle. But the two friends were convinced that their products on the market "could not only keep up", but would even stand out due to their high quality standards and good value for money. A versatile team around the two founders - consisting of specialists in the fields of nutrition, nutritional supplements, physiotherapy and healing practice - "developed with know-how, passion and above all conviction products that perfectly complement the diet with all important nutrient concentrates," said Kleespies .

High quality standards

The two founders do not contest that some nutritionists and medical professionals question the necessity of dietary supplements in western civilization, where there are all kinds of food to buy. In theory, that's true, says Kleespies, "when you nibble on a carrot you have grown yourself and come straight from the field, unprocessed". But even then, the constant exploitation of the same agricultural area over long periods of time led to foods that are very low in nutrients. “The loss of vitamin A in apples, for example, has decreased by over 40 percent since the 1970s,” says Kleespies as an example. Highly grown vegetables contain only a fraction of vitamins and nutrients. Siegle also points to the necessary protein requirement, which many people no longer want to meet, or only to a small extent, about meat products. Here support your amino acid product, which is "100 percent vegan". The entrepreneurs are absolutely convinced of the quality of their capsules and powders in the stylish, black metallic-colored cans: Kleespies says that they are constantly checked by certified laboratories, "after all, these are things that we also give to our children and take for ourselves" . Something else is important to Geltingerin: "Our products can be combined with one another without overdosing, for example, zinc." Preservatives, artificial sweeteners and flavors, gluten, lactose, wheat, soybeans, milk components, egg and the controversial magnesium stearates the company completely foregoes.

The start-up company's driving force is its Aminolife system. Siegle explains how it works. "We have something that nobody has. The basic product is the L-Amino Basix. It contains all eight L-amino acids that the body cannot produce itself, but is urgently needed every day in order to produce vital proteins. This ensures optimal protein supply, and all nutrients get to the cells better and faster. ”This basis, combined with other valuable vitamins, minerals and trace elements, makes the whole thing efficient“ and really gets the body going ”.

"Really great recessions"

The duo brings its goods onto the market through two sales channels. It sells itself under the name "itsme.now" in its own online shop and at a large online retailer - "with great reviews", as Kleespies notes. The cans are not available in regional stores - yet. "We will tackle this in the near future," promises Siegle. The products are already available for sale in a large chain of drugstores in northern Germany. And a large German retail group has also expressed its interest.

In addition, Siegle and Kleespies offer business-to-business partnerships through their sales company "The NEMs": This means: A third-party company sources its products and sells them under its own brand name - clever. It is clear to both of them: they are only at the beginning of their path, but it is the right one.
