Bonn (AP) - In the case of two police officers seriously injured in a supermarket, the homes of two suspects in Bonn and Troisdorf were searched. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office of the German Press Agency. "Bild.de" had previously reported.
According to the prosecutor, alleged evidence was secured during the operations in Bonn's old town and in Troisdorf, but nothing more can be said about it. Armed officials from a group of hundreds of people were also involved in the raids. According to investigators, it is now certain that officials in the supermarket have been lured into a trap. Accordingly, the two suspects (35/38) intentionally provoked the situation. One of the two had filmed the process with a camera attached to his body. The fact that the recording landed on the Internet immediately after the incident and other indications led the police to suspect that it could have been a planned action.
According to dpa information, the two suspects apparently had accomplices: The incident was filmed from several perspectives, it said. In the video you can hear a woman who reveals herself as the wife of one of the attackers. It was initially unclear whether it would be investigated against them or others.
The officials had been called to the supermarket on Saturday afternoon because the two suspects had argued with employees: the men had not wanted to use mouth-nose protection. The Internet video shows the suspect discussing with the camera with the police in several languages because he does not want to show his ID. The second man - now with a cloth over his mouth - pretends to be a translator and intervenes. Ultimately, the situation escalates and the "translator", already brought down, hits one of the officials in the face.
According to the prosecutor, one of the two suspects has dual citizenship - German-Eastern European - the other is therefore Eastern European. No further details on citizenships were given.
In the video you can hear, among other things, how the film end says: "I am a human being, I do not need an identity card (...) I am human and sovereign." The self-appointed translator repeats that the man is a "sovereign person" and will defend himself by all means if the officials harm him. The choice of words is similar to the so-called imperial citizens who reject the state as an instance.
The men are being investigated for willful physical harm and assault on police officers. They were initially released due to a lack of grounds for detention.
The deputy chief of the police union (GdP) in North Rhine-Westphalia, Michael Maatz, told the dpa on Wednesday: "This incident is a scandal. That the two police officers were obviously lured into a trap and seriously injured by people who Politically exploiting the crisis is intolerable. "
