The Unterschleißheim First Responder of a twelve year old saved the life. They revived the girl with the defibrillator.

Unterschleissheim - The child was passed out on the floor when the first aid from the Unterschleissheim fire department arrived. The mother of the twelve-year-old had already started the resuscitation courageously and efficiently. That and the commitment of the first aiders ultimately saved the girl's life.

The Unterschleißheim fire department does not normally report on their first responder missions. But recently she was called to a child emergency, which was also a special assignment for the experienced first aiders. The fire department Unterschleißheim received the alarm one afternoon in late April. Three minutes later, the first responders were in the Unterschleissheim family's apartment. The twelve-year-old girl had passed out. Cardiac arrest. His mother had begun resuscitation in her mind. She rhythmically squeezed the palm of her hand on the child's chest and also ventilated him.

Girl comes to Munich Children's Heart Clinic

When the first-aiders came in, three shocks with the defibrillator were enough, and the patient had a stable circulation again. When twelve rescue workers and a child emergency doctor arrived from Munich twelve minutes later, the girl was able to breathe again. The patient was brought to a children's heart clinic in Munich by ambulance.

Florian Schanderl, head of operations at Unterschleißheim's first responders, sent the doctors there the ECG data from the defibrillator, which reached the hospital even before the patient. The device records the data after each shock delivered before the next follows two minutes later. They support the doctors with diagnosis and treatment.

"You can only take your hat off"

"The mother grasped the situation and courageously and effectively started the resuscitation," says Michael Meyer from the Unterschleissheim fire brigade Meyer believes that the life and death of their child is often very difficult, especially for parents.

To ensure that resuscitation works well even with medical laypersons, the city of Unterschleissheim has been offering training courses for the fire service and the first responder group of the fire brigade for five years. There are 19 defibrillators in the village. Anyone interested can find all the locations and a small film on the city's website: www.unterschleissheim.de under the heading "Family, Social Affairs, Education" there is the item "Public Defibrillators".
